I have an usual side dish that I want to make. But first I had to make the sugar coated pecans that are part of the recipe. Unfortunately, I had no pecans in the house. So Pap and I made a trip to the grocery store. I worked my way to aisle three and went into sticker shock when I saw the price of pecans. Are you ready for this? A pound of pecan halves is selling for $9.00. I sure hope the heck we love this side dish.
Ingredients:
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water
1 pound pecan halves
1 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Grease one baking sheet.
2. In a mixing bowl, whip together the egg white and water until frothy. In a separate bowl, mix together sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
3. Add pecans to egg whites, stir to coat the nuts evenly. Remove the nuts, and toss them in the sugar mixture until coated. Spread the nuts out on the prepared baking sheet.

delicious snacks looks wonderful
These look great to me - hope they were as good as you hoped!
Yes.... they certainly are worth the $9.00. I will be making the rest of the recipe tomorrow or Monday.
Wow that is sticker shock, but it does look worth it. I am allergic to pecans but would love to try this with almonds. Thanks.
Feel like munching some addictive sugar coated pecans..
This looks great! Such a sweet and simple snack!
I've been meaning to make some candied pecans to use in a salad. Hadn't noticed the price. But thanks for the recipe!
Those are some expensive pecans! This recipe sounds great, I would love to try it out with almonds!
I think I'd find a different nut. Walnut are pretty close, aren't they? Ouch. At least it looks great. Can't wait to hear what the side dish was.
Yeah, the pecans can get quite expensive. I usually but them in Costco, just a bit cheaper. :)
BTW, I'm your newest follower.
