Whipping Cream Biscuits

“Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit.”

Biscuits, the most beloved food of any well brought up southern. In fact, a recipe accompanies every new born female when she leaves the womb. "Ouch.... paper cut!"

Ingredients:
1 cup cold butter or margarine, cut into pieces
4 cups self-rising flour
1-3/4 to 2 cups whipping cream
1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions:
1. Cut 1 cup butter into flour with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly. Add whipping cream, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.

2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3 or 4 times. Roll or pat dough to 3/4-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch round cutter, and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

3. Bake at 400 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden. Brush warm biscuits with 1/2 cup melted butter. Yield: 2 dozen.

Y'all come back.....

OH MY GOSH!!! I love biscuits (hence why my butt is so big??) although I was not born in the south... But I can tell you what - these look delicious and sound fantastic! Almost anything with cream in it catches my eye :)

I like your presentation. The strawberry jam looks pretty with the red and white gingham fabric. I love eating biscuits for brunch on weekends.

Well here in Australia we call biscuits scones! Not sure the historical reason why, but biscuits here are something completely different! Doesn't matter what ya call them, they are yum and I would not think to use whipping cream to make them! Buttermilk works nicely though:) BTW thanks for following me:)

I love biscuits. As a northern girl, I did not have the luck of being born with a biscuit recipe. :) But I may have to try this one. These look yummy!

These look wonderful. When I first moved down here I briefly dated a guy who forced me to learn his mom's biscuit recipe, which included putting a thumb print in the top with a dab of buttermilk simply because she always stuck her thumb in there (big eye roll).
