The only thing this evening has going for it, is the opportunity to socialize and drink wine.
On that happy note, I wanted something special to make and share with our friends. So I browsed through many recipes until came across this recipe in one of Paula Deen's magazines. "Hooray", I said smiling to myself. Perhaps I'd come across a wonderful alternative to the usual Chex Mix.
So I mixed it up this afternoon believing that I was creating something completely unusual. And that brings us to Pap, my taste tester. I watched as he grabbed a handful, munched and chewed. "Mmmm... " he said thoughtfully. "Tastes like Chex Mix."
Ingredients:
1 (3.4-ounce) bag microwave butter=flavored popcorn
2 cups pecan halves
2 cups pretzel sticks
1-1/2 cups salted mixed nuts
2 egg whites, beaten until stiff
2 teaspoons curry powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon soy sauce
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In a large bowl, combine popcorn, pecans, pretzels, and mixed nuts.
3. In a small bowl, combine beaten egg whites, curry powder, sugar, garlic, salt, onion powder, and soy sauce. Add to popcorn mixture, tossing gently to coat. (I used my hands)
4. Spread mixture evenly onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through baking. Let cool completely before serving.

How fun! I wish we had something like that in our neighborhood. Sounds like a pretty yummy snack, I'll have to try it some time.

Sounds like a fun night. yeah, the wine and socialize part. I haven't seen Mama Mia, but I bought the dvd, I don't know why. Anyway, have fun and your snack sounds great, I love sweet and spicy together!
I liked the Musical Mama Mia, but not the movie. LOL The movie is very boring and the actors/actresses aren't that good.

Momma Mia grew on me. It seemed a little 'slow' but I do think about it fondly. Must be my age and the music. This looks way better than Chex Mix. Hey, how is the garden coming along?
