Smokey Stained Eggs

Yesterday, I felt like doing a little experiment. Just like one of the crazy witches from Macbeth, I conjured up a bubbling brew in a cauldron. First a big splash of soy sauce, a bigger splash of liquid smoke, hard-boiled eggs (still in their shell, but the shell has been cracked all over), and water to cover. Cook on very low heat for two hours.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,

POOF!

Just like the beautiful Chinese tea stained eggs, with the delicate veining spreading across the surface of the hard boiled egg. I had now created my own version. But mine had a wonderful smokey flavor.

Give it a try..... If you dare.

Looks like fun. After cooking for 2 hours, do you eat them? Or are they for 'looks'?

Those eggs look cool, but I don't think I could eat them with a smokey favor. The cupcakes below this post however looked great!
