Doom and gloom. We are bombarded with it 24/7. Global warming, terrorist attacks, meteors crashing to earth, super volcanoes, 2012 - end of Mayan calender, and now they are trying to scare us with a sugar shortage. Good grief, it's enough to drive you crazy.
I suppose if I believed in a sugar shortage I could fill our safe with bags and bags.
And I suppose I could chain the over-flow to the leg of the safe. But that's only if I believed in the shortage and was paranoid enough to hoard 50 pounds of sugar.
Then again, after I spent all my money on sugar. There would now be plenty of room to store several bags under the mattress. But that's only speculative thinking. After all I'm a rational woman that despises how the media works the masses into a frenzy.

as soooon as i saw the title to this blog post, the Archie's tune was already firmly embedded in my wee head! i hadn't heard the doomgloom sugar shortage story - i bake a lot, so of course, i need to stock up now. what would i do come holiday season, right? do you have any spare room in the safe? what if it rains? what if i get mugged on the way home from the market, held for sugar ransom? sista, can you spare a pound?
